An informative comparison of a range of high-quality monitors in May 2022 at BAM Berlin with films on film viewers as a reference showed that good monitors were consistently able to provide the same wire recognition on the raw images without image processing as the film viewer (with magnifying glass). When it comes to enlarged image display, monitors are superior, as enlargement on film viewers can only be achieved with magnifying glasses, which, due to the very small image field, make evaluation difficult and quickly lead to viewer fatigue.

Two major learning came out:
* Brightness and dynamics of the monitors are comparable with film viewing
* An enlarged display makes evaluation on the monitor easier (even without additional image processing / filters)
